Communication is based on frames, where the frame format can be customized to accommodate a wide range of standards. A frame consists of a start bit, a number of data bits, an optional parity bit for error detection as well as a configurable length stop bit(s) - see Figure 1. Table 1 shows the available parameters you can change in a frame.
