Measuring the ATxmega128B1 power consumption

As part of an evaluation of the Atmel ATxmega128B1, it can be of interest to measure its power consumption. The two-pin header with a jumper mounted on it is the only connection between the common VTG (V_Target) power plane and the VXM (V_Xmega) power plane. By replacing the jumper with an ampere meter, it is possible to determine the current consumption of the ATxmega128B1. To locate the power measurement header, refer to Figure 1.

Attention:

Do not power the board without having the jumper, or ampere meter, mounted on the power measurement header, otherwise the device may be damaged. The power measurement header is located next to the USB connector as shown in Figure 1.
