Getting Started with IAR

IAR Embedded Workbench^® for ARM^® is a proprietary, high-efficiency compiler not based on GCC. The programming and debugging of Xplained Pro kits are supported in IAR^™ Embedded Workbench for ARM using the common CMSIS-DAP interface. Some initial settings have to be set up in the project to get programming and debugging to work.

The following steps explain how to set up a project for programming and debugging:

1. 1.Open the project that needs to be configured. Open the OPTIONS dialog for the project.
2. 2.In the General Options category, select the Target tab. Select the "Device" for the project or the "Core" of the device.
3. 3.In the Debugger category, select the Setup tab. CMSIS DAPSelectas the driver.
4. 4.In the Debugger category, select the Download tab. Use flash loader(s)Select theoption.
5. 5.In the Debugger > CMSIS DAP category, select the Setup tab. System (default)Selectas the reset method.
